I specialise in building and maintaining web sites
for UK small to medium-sized businesses (often
home-based ones), with a particular emphasis on clear, uncomplicated
design and with every effort made to ensure a good natural search
engine positioning over
time. My services include hosting of the web
site and email. For many clients I also manage a Google
Adwords campaign. I am also an approved
supplier for Business Link applicants
through the Connecting Somerset scheme. Currently there are grants
available for Somerset-based businesses for web site and "e-business" projects.

I
have been "on the net" since the mid-90s,
initially doing intranet pages for large UK organisations, and an independent
professional web designer since 2001. Previously I worked in IT
quality assurance and my initial introduction to computing was as a
COBOL programmer. This business has been running since 1995, and has
customers from all parts of the UK. Some moved their
design and/or hosting to Kaywebs after a bad experience with a
previous design house or internet service provider. And some also
sought makeovers of sites that were created for them years
ago "by
a bloke they knew" and not touched since. Others
ask me to take over existing sites and maybe remove excessive
Flash animation, improve their search engine position, add new functionality
or aid general site accessibility. Via Business Link, I receive many
requests for "first" web
sites, for both new and existing businesses, and I also provide fair
and impartial advice on all web-related matters,
to fully support your web presence. Find out more about my background
and experience here.
Most of my sites are assembled using regular HTML, styled
with CSS (cascading style sheets), plus simple Javascript and PHP/MySQL
coding where needed. For more complex site builds it's usually cheaper
to buy in an off-the-shelf package and customise it rather than create
a bespoke system, and I have installed a wide range of these including databases,
forums, photo
galleries, content-managed
sites and now live
chat.
